Crafting Outdoor Rooms
The exterior of a property can very easily be compared to the interior of a home. A design is founded on the orientation of a compass with the three key elements being:
Canopy trees as the ceiling
Ornamental trees and shrubs as the walls and halls
Woody ground covers, herbaceous plants, and grasses as the ground
It is with these elements that a design can be crafted to a homeowner's specific needs while also contributing to the existing community of plants that it needs to integrate with.
By creating outdoor rooms with purpose—e.g. lounge with fire pit, dining area, play space—homeowners are more frequently invited out into their property. Time spent outdoors inevitably fosters a deeper connection to the land and the larger landscape.
